My ae86 history

  ...mogi, you will never forgotten,
                              my dorihachigo!!

back in 2001, my daily beater froggy (a 1989 ford escort lx wagon) fainally broke down on me. its was time to look for a daily car. initially, i was about to purchase a 1989 vw jetta carat in san francisco when i realized there was a huge gaping dent on the passenger side door! my hopes of finding an affordable commute car start to fade when i had a call from my friend. raymaund told me there was a 86 corolla sr5 coupe for sale in his neighborhood.

mogi is such a fun car to drive! even if its slow on pick-up, its handles well on the corners. surprisingly, i could hang with my friends CRX on my local togue.
 

my friend also suggested to me to browse club4ag.com, a website filled with tons of info about the ae86 corolla. form there on, i got more interested in drifting and solo2. but on a rainy evening of feb. 02, mogi (sr5) got into an accident. although i was compensated accordingly, mogi will never be the same. i started to look for another corolla and i found an 86 gts coupe.

impulse buying is never good. insted of having another reliable car, i ended up with more problems, even more than mogi's. frame is bent, 4ag has a leaky headgasket, no compression on 1, 2, and 3!!! what was i thinking! luckily, it also didn't cost me that much so off i go to search for that reliable dorihachigo! hehehe, for the short time i had this car, i never named it thus its name is gts.

so the search for dorihachigo continues. then i found a 87 corolla gts coupe up for sale. i quickly contacted the owner and arranged for a look at the car. i said to myslef that i won't make the same mistake twice. i even made a list of what to look at when im buying the car! other than minor dings, a few surface rust, and a non-operative ac , the car is in good condition. i even bought the car at a non-hyped up price to boot!

 

 

 

at a certain point, i had three coupes! talk about an ae86 coupe whore! anyways, i had to sell the other two becasue i cannot afford having three cars. eventually, dorihachigo trancended through yuki, my brown gts. although it is a gts, the term dorihachigo just stuck. go dorihachigo ! ! !
