First event for '09. Geoff from Thunderdrift lunched a 6-round competition series from Thunderdrift. Comp. series are held every month. This is good for norcal drifters to show their skills and compete with each other in a safe, friendly environment.

The weather during Saturday's free session was fine. Sunday competition however was faced with gail like winds and torrential downpours. People were having difficulty holding thier angle throughout the course. But there wer able to adapt and were laying down some sick runs. I in particular, were having a hard time keeping my angle during the 1st initiation turn. This was important becasue you're exit angle and speed determines your impact as you continue down the course.

I didn't do good during qualifying. I think I didn't lay down a clean run. I still have problems in the first turn. When the they called out who will continue to top 8, I didn't expect to hear my name. But they did call me!!! Wow, can't believe it. On my 2nd round runs, I layed down a pretty good run. No understeer in the 1st trurn and 4ag screaming down the course. I really felt good about that run. Alas, there were more better drifter than me that day so my runs ended there. Ryan Kado won the first round, with a memorable bra catching moment. He was the most consistent driver that day. Oh well, 'till the next round.
